Rio Scuro

The forests of low altitude in the valley of the Aniene are lush jungles that cover the soft sides of the mountains hiding the details. This makes it virtually impossible to estabilish if a valley has narrows or waterfalls by looking from the outside. The only way to know is to enter the valley and go along, but this means moving in the jungle and it is not easy or comfortable.
However, if you do it you may discover beautiful and unexpected waterfalls as those of Rio Scuro.

I remember ...

The exceptional snowfall of 2012 broke branches and downed trees unable to support the weight of that extraordinary mass of snow. Particularly affected by the phenomenon were the trees on the edges or the flanks of canyons, because several of them are in an unstable position. So, after the snowfall, on the bed of canyons developing at low altitude we find several trees fallen across that hinder the passage, creating in some cases impenetrable barriers that will remain that way for years.

So Rio Scuro we found trees collapsed in the bed, and we had to work hard to pass.
