canyon exploring with Michele Angileri
Cascata di Giglietto
The landscape of the hills around Carfizzi features cliffs and rock faces surrounded by steep slopes covered with forests of oak and bush.
Here, far from roads and villages, is the beautiful Giglietto waterfall, immersed in a particularly wild and rugged scenery.
The waterfall and the narrow that precedes it have perennial water flow, weak in summer, powerful and impressive in the rainy seasons.
The isolation of the waterfall, its distance from the roads, makes it a solitary place, accessible only by a long and rewarding hike
through majestic surreal sceneries.

For many years I knew of the existence of the Giglietto waterfall, but believing that a single cascade is alway less interesting than a
longer and more complex canyoning route I put off its exploration all the times, giving priority to other streams.
In 2013 I finally decided to organize the descent. I searched the Internet for some fresh information, photos or video of the waterfall,
and so on Youtube I came across the video of the first descent of Giglietto aterfall. It had been carried out by two French whose parents came
from Carfizzi: they used to spent summer vacations in Carfizzi and there they had heard about Giglietto cascade.
From the video I could see that the two had used only natural anchors (a far tree) and it would be advisable to place some bolts
(something that I did then). But above all I could see from the video that it was a very beautiful and special place.
Live the place turned out to be even more beautiful and special than it appeared from the video.
