Fosso di Fonte Nocelle

At first glance the open wooded valleys of Monti Lucretili give no chance to those looking for something like a canyon. But in some of these valleys river-bed may be harder than you imagined. And if you try to bypass the little cascades that are stopping your hike you may find difficult to get back to river-bed: easier and safer to pull out rope and rappel down the cascade!
So you'll find yourself canyoning even in an "open" valley like Fonte Nocelle.

I remember ...

I knew since some years that this valley was explored. To go descending it I was waiting for a day of slightly bad weather, when it's not good to go canyoning otherwhere than in an open dry canyon.

The day arrived in autumn 2008: dark clouds, cold wind ... the perfect day for Fosso di Fonte Nocelle!
