Forra del Casco

An ever-flowing stream, one of the few in this part of Italy, goes down to river Nera through an impressive, magnificent cut into the rock, ending in a beautiful waterfall (called the Casco dell'acqua). The Nera is still far, and the creek continues going down in falls, through a more open environment with a couple of short narrows.

It is the Forra del Casco, the most known and frequented canyoning trail in central Italy.

I remember ...

Although this canyon is very frequented, by commercial or recreational groups, it is still possible to enjoy a descent in absolute solitude, in total communion with the beautiful surroundings, provided you choose the right day, avoiding the weekends. No doubt, I prefer it.
