Rio Campo dell'Acqua

On the north-western side of the Sabini Mountains, the Fara Valley looks like a wide gorge between tall rocky sides. Its upper part, however, is made of many little canyons that come together.
Rio Campo dell'acqua is one of the two main ones. It is a nice gorge with a sequence of narrows, one of which is carved in an unusual lightpink limestone.

I remember ...

Finding a torrent called Rio Campo dell'Acqua (Water Field creek) always dry is certainly a paradox. I don't know if this is mainly due to karst (water disappears just upstream of the gorge and reappears in the last part) or to the aqueduct takings, but the fact is that I have not yet been able to see water flowing through the Rio gorge.

But even dry the gorge is charming and descent is satisfying.
