Fosso di Riti

The water that flows through the Salto del Cieco canyon comes from the springs of the orographic right branch, called Fosso di Riti.

Upstream of the springs the Fosso, steep and open, features numerous dryfalls and nice erosions in white limestone.

I remember ...

The rains in the previous weeks had been exceptionally intense and violent. All the branches of the Salto del Cieco had been covered by a flood capable of moving tons of stones and smoothing the rocks. And where there were no rocks the bed consisted in a kind of path made of fine white gravel.
I would have liked to call that place Fosso Bianco (white creek), but that valley already had a name ...
