cookieless, no-ads, no threats canyon exploring with Michele Angileri
Gola di Lavello
Titerno torrent is known worldwide among the canyoning enthusiasts for the beautiful Caccaviola Gorge, considered among the most interesting canyoning routes
of Matese massif.
A few miles downstream, however, the Titerno passes through another canyon, the Lavello Gorge which is very different from Caccaviola:
sub-horizontal, it features with perennial water flow and one little cascade only. In summer you don't need rope and descent is quite simple, while in the rainy
seasons the flow-rate makes some points dangerous or even impracticable. The woody sides of the gorge are traversed by some tourist paths that lead hikers to some nice
spots of the canyon: ancient mills, artificial tunnels, grottos, and the roman bridge known as Hannibal Bridge.
But the best way to appreciate the beauty of the Lavello Gorge is descending along the water course.

I came there for descending Caccaviola canyon, but as I came to the little bridge I had a nasty surprise: the creek had gone dry.
So I decided to spend the day doing something else, maybe visiting the surroundings ... But then I thought to Lavello Gorge: there was surely water there,
so I could have gladdened the day with a nice aquatic route ...
