A Ficocchia

The perennial waters of Ficocchia creek come down from the highlands of Pescopagano with a path weakly embedded featuring small cascades mostly downclimbable, some nice pools and an interesting geological phenomenon. About half-way, in fact, a high rock wall blocks the way, and the creek unexpectedly overcome it through a true portal arisen at the point where two different rock formations come into contact. Perhaps it is this unusual natural monument to have inspired the name of the stream.

I remember ...

You can go up through the pretty pools and waterfalls of Ficocchia creek with little more than hiking, up to the portal of Ficocchia and beyond, without using canyoning gear and techniques. This had been done by local hikers in the past years. Surfing the Internet you can find their photographs of the portal and the creek.
