Acqua della Fame

The stately western side of mount Cozzo del Pellegrino feeds the abundant perennial springs of Abatemarco river, which descends rapidly toward the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea along a narrow valley between high rocky peaks and steep lush forests.
A little road goes up the valley, which in its widenings hosts some tilled grounds and farms, ending ad the water takings at Abatemarco springs.

Driving up the valley you cannot help but notice the little smooth final falls of Acqua della Fame canyon.

I remember ...

Still little known by canyoning enthusiasts, Acqua della Fame canyon has been frequented over the years mainly by commercial groups. The relative ease of access, the shortness, the majestic initial waterfall, the perennial flow, however, make this trip interesting for any canyoneer (beginners, experts, customers of the guides) and therefore I think that over the years this route will become increasingly popular.
