Gafaro a Nebbia

The mighty rock of Monte La Caccia captures the attention of those who travel the coast of Calabrian Tirreno sea. It rises very high above the clouds which form everyday here. A bit of attention will show that southern side of Monte La Caccia has a deep and steep rocky valley going down ...
It's the canyon of Gafaro a nebbia, the "valley of the fog", a long descent requiring about 50 rappels.

I remember ...

This exploration further demonstrated the power of ultralight ropes, which allowed us to link up to 5 rappels in sequence from one anchor! So we were able to descend the canyon placing very few bolts, which is excellent given the large number of falls that characterize this gorge.
