![]() cookieless, no-ads, no threats canyon exploring with Michele Angileri Lacerno Inferiore
![]() Vallone Lacerno is a majestic wild canyon situated in the forest by south-western border of Abruzzo National Park. The stream goes through narrows whose features are the same as the great canyons of Abruzzo. White smooth walls, cascades, lightgreen pools, rock peaks and the forest make Vallone Lacerno one of the most interesting canyoning trail in Lazio. The complete descent of Lacerno canyon is demanding, but luckily it can be divided in two parts.
I remember ...In Lazio in the eighties, very few people knew the meaning of the word "canyoning". Moreover they thought that canyons were very uncommon places, all far from Rome. Lazio was considered a good land for caving, hiking and forgotten ancient remains, not for canyoning. In the eighties the ASR '86 caving team (born in 1986!) did caving researches off the beaten areas. Their members was not involved in caving only: their interests range from hiking to climbing, archaeology, mountaineering, nature travels ... This wide interests range make them aware of some unknown canyon hidden between the hills of Lazio. So they explored the first canyons ever explored in Lazio: Lacerno, Riancoli, Ravi, ... Giorgio Pintus and Tullio Dobosz were the team members most interested in canyoning. In the nineties Dobosz did other canyon explorings (some in partnership with me) and repeated few known canyoning trails in Appennino. He is among the authors of the first guide-book ever published on canyons of Central Italy: "Gole e Canyons dell'Italia Centrale". Copyright © 2002- Michele Angileri. All rights reserved. |
