I remember ...

That year, commitments related to the NRRP forced me to work even in August. So I arrived at the start of the school year (the most demanding phase of my job) without having had enough rest. And there was still a lot of work to be done with the NRRP, on two schools...

At the end of October I absolutely needed to stop for a few days. The long weekend of November 1st was the right opportunity to leave, without anything challenging. I didn't have the energy for a serious trip, just a bit of fun and rest! So my wife and I left for Calabria, with the idea of doing some small tours in the surrounding area. However, there were a couple of unforeseen events (nothing unpleasant) that made us change plans and shorten our holiday. So the only canyoning route I managed to do in those days was to Burrone Furci.

The day, absolutely relaxing and rewarding, ended with an ice cream cone consumed on the terrace of the old town of Cariati, in front of the sea illuminated by sunset light. The cone in my hand reminded me of the torch on the Statue of Liberty in New York...

Freedom, at last!

Burrone Furci has another gorge in its upper part, quite evident from the road to Pallagorio. Being a little steeper than the lower part, I thought it could hide deeper waterfalls, though in a short canyon. I was wrong: in the upper part the waterfalls were few and low. And in the canyon it didn't seem like you were in the bottom of a deep gorge like it actually is.
In short, nothing special. However, enough to give me a couple of hours of adventure in the heart of nature.
