Bacu Bidunie

Isolated in the middle of Baunei's Supramonte, far from everything, lies a small flat of volcanic rock, known as Bidunie. It is like a brown island in a white sea of rock, walls and canyons that go down towards Codula di Luna.
One of these canyons is very steep and magnificent. It features high cascades carved in the extraordinary white rock of Supramonte. Canyon has no name on maps: let's call it Bacu Bidunie.

I remember ...

Andrea was the first among us going thorugh. His voice sounded: "I have very bad news: come and see by yourself".
A ring of rope around a tree at the top of first cascade showed us someone else had been there yet: we were not the first! Though we had not found anyone knowing something about this canyon it was not unexplored.

But ... is it a bad news, really? Canyon prooved to be beautiful, and we had a very good time, so ... it doesn't matter! Being in a place like this, spending a wonderful day toghether ... these are the things that matter!

I was the first going down the 40 meters cascade. At its bottom there was something unexpected that really scared me: a backpack and its content scattered all around: sleeping bag and pad, a couple of books in german language, a grey cell-phone and its battery, short pants, even a couple of inflatable racquets for beach tennis ... For a minute it seemed to me as if an hiker had gone lost in Supramonte and fallen down the edge of canyon's wall. I searched for a corpse: there wasn't.
Maybe backpack was left by cascade's edge. A flood might have taken it some months later, and make it fall down.
