canyon exploring with Michele Angileri

Vallone del Romito

Vallone del Romito is a little tributary of torrent Rava. It is always dry, except under heavy rains. The descent consists in a walk along a canyon with a lot of vegetation, with a few short narrows, downclimbings and a few rappels. Near the end stream passes under a chaos of huge boulders that form a beautiful cavern.

I remember ...

The low canyoning interest of the Romito is further reduced by the large amount of waste that is thrown from the road bridge. Moreover, the distressing spectacle of waste is not confined to the vicinity of the bridge, since the floods dragged down the valley most of them scattering them along the canyon. It would be impossible to carry out remediation of the canyon, but the administrations of Pozzilli and Conca Casale should at least prevent the pollution from going on.

Photographs in this website show ultralight ropes (6 mm ropes made of high tenacity fibers). Read multimedia book Ultralight ropes canyoning technique to learn how to use them.
