canyon exploring with Michele Angileri

Fosso di Ripa Rossa

Located in the forests on the eastern side of Mount Tancia, the Fosso di Ripa Rossa offers a pleasant trail not too challenging, embedded in a deep valley with some pools and waterfalls of low height.
In short: a typical Sabinian canyoning trail.

I remember ...

Explored nearly 20 years ago and documented by a couple of books, the Fosso di Ripa Rossa cannot be said to be an unknown canyon, but neither a classic canyoning trail of Lazio. In fact the Fosso saw canyoneers especially in the early years following its exploration. Over the years the frequentation of this canyon gradually decreased to almost cease.
Surely it is not a "big canyoning route", but I went there 10 years ago and I went back this year and I will go there again in the future. And I will probably find the same barely sufficient anchors that I installed the times I've been there.

Photographs in this website show ultralight ropes (6 mm ropes made of high tenacity fibers). Read multimedia book Ultralight ropes canyoning technique to learn how to use them.
