canyon exploring with Michele Angileri

Fosso di Rasciano

The villages of Salisano and Mompeo rise on the top of two very near hills. The distance between them is 1 km only, but the hills are separated by the deep gorge of Fosso di Rasciano. Stream flows 200 meters below, between vertical walls and rock scarps covered by bush and ilex woods.

Pools, rapids and little cascades enclosed in narrows.

I remember ...

It was spring and there was much water, so that I had to beware the whirls, which could stay even under very very little water-jumps. I put a couple of fixed ropes, but canyon wasn't slippery and whirl-pools weren't bad. It was fun!

Photographs in this website show ultralight ropes (6 mm ropes made of high tenacity fibers). Read multimedia book Ultralight ropes canyoning technique to learn how to use them.
