canyon exploring with Michele Angileri

Fosso Calcinare

Fosso Calcinare is a valley like many others on the flanks of the limestone mountains of Umbria or Lazio. Surrounded by mediterranean vegetation, it has some water flow only in case of exceptional rainfall. The Fosso fetures a few short narrows, some dryfalls to be rappeled, a few downclimbings, a non-trivial approach on tracks and paths. Nothing fancy, no special difficulty ... There are, however, the ingredients for a few hours of pleasant movement in a nice natural environment.

I remember ...

I was expecting a little bit more from Fosso Calcinare. Not much more, indeed, so that I went there in a day when I could not find anything better to do (sub-zero temperatures and a terrible drought: it has not rained since the previous spring ...)

However, the trip was pleasant.

Photographs in this website show ultralight ropes (6 mm ropes made of high tenacity fibers). Read multimedia book Ultralight ropes canyoning technique to learn how to use them.
