I remember ...

In the nineties a few canyoning enthusiasts from Terni explored many valleys in the hills between Terni and Spoleto, searching for new canyoning trails. They explored Fosso di Vallecchia too, but only the upper part of the valley. They interrupted the exploration because the valley did not look interesting and it had a lot of spiny vegetation.
They didn't realize the interesting part (though not a great trail) was not far from there.
