The limestone of Appennino Umbro-Marchigiano does not have the compactness among its features. Limestone layers are generally thin, the walls of canyons
tend to release stones and landslides are quite common. The danger forces canyoneers to be particularly cautious and carefully check the cascades looking for unstable stones
that could be set in motion by the canyoneer or rope.
