You can see the canyon of Abbambesi from afar, as a deep cut in Quirra plateau. Stream begins flowing quietly on a horizontal pavement of marl-limestone layers, then it reaches plateau's edge and falls into a canyon with majestic (and landsliding) walls.

I remember ...

Among the peculiarities of Abbambesi canyon is its location inside the biggest military firing ground of Italy. But you might not even realize to be in a firing ground: around you there's only impassable bush, solitude, and some cows or goats eating the grass that grows on the thousands of bullets and bombs spread on the soil. Some of them might be still "active", as written on boards.

This is the paradox of Quirra firing ground.
