Fosso dei Catanelli

On its short journey downstream, Fosso dei Catanelli creek passes through a multi-colored flysch formation, where it creates unusual and deeply fascinating landscapes which can be visited without technical gear via a relatively simple route. Upstream the flysch formation, however, the Fosso has carved a small gorge in the pink and white limestone, which can be traveled with a few short abseils and numerous downclimbs, just enough to add a pinch of difficulty and sportiness to a route that would otherwise be pure hiking.

I remember ...

Perhaps one day there will be signs here indicating the presence of a "natural monument," with marked trails and geological explanations, and visitors will come here, or the place will become a destination for guided excursions, like happened with other unknown places described on this site...
For now, however, there's none of that. You have to guess the road that leads to the area, the path leading down to the stream is a weak track with no signs exactly like the many ones that lead nowhere. And there's no one down there, in the creek: just the faint sound of flowing water and the wind blowing through the trees.
And you, in blissful harmony with the universe.
