Fosso della Sereotta

In its upper part, lake Turano is wedged between the steep slopes of Mount Cervia, at east, and Faito, at west. Since the Faito is made of an alternation of limestone and sandstone rocks, a few perennial creeks, like Fosso della Sereotta, go down the mountain with sequences of little falls in the woods.

I remember ...

I had always known that on that side of the mountain there were steep streams that certainly had some cascades, but it was evident that they had no real gorges, except, perhaps, very short ones.
So, for years, I opted for the exploration of other streams, in other areas.

The right day for exploring the Sereotta came while the clouds of coronavirus storm were gathering over our heads. It was a sunny day, in truth, but the schools had already been closed and soon, I was convinced, prohibitions never seen before would rain down. So while I was going to the Turano I phoned my daughter, telling her to pack her bags because I would come and pick her up at the end of the trip: if everything gets closed it's better that you stay with us at home rather than alone in Rome.

I was not wrong: the whole Italy was put under lockdown in a few days.
