Fosso di Riancoli

At a certain point, unexpectedly, the large forested canyon with which Fosso di Riancoli reaches the valley of Turano reduces to a narrow corridor carved into the white rock, entirely occupied by beautiful pools of unusually large size, interspersed by low waterfalls. The pools' size is due to very large winter floods (Riancoli's basin is wider than the average), but in summer Riancoli gets dry because this is a karst area.

The narrows of Riancoli are probably the most known and repeated canyoning trail in Sabina.

I remember ...

I don't know why, but it often happens at Riancoli. Once it happened to me, or more precisely it happened to my partner: he forgot in the car parked at canyon's startpoint (my car) the key of shuttle car (his car) ...
But we were lucky: we met another canyoning team, and they had not forgot the key of their shuttle car. Once ended the descent their shuttle car brought me too back at canyon's startpoint.

To say it all, they were lucky too in meeting us ... Their team was made by a man (the leader) and 4 women, and only the man wore a complete wetsuit. 2 women had no piece of wetsuit at all! None of them had a backpack or emergency gear ...
After the first two pools, the women without wetsuit started having big chills, and their skin turned to purple. So my friend and I gave them our wetsuit jackets and helped the team exiting the canyon as fast as possible. All went ok, thanks to us.
