Cascate di Micigliano

The descent of the small but pretty waterfalls of the right branch of Fosso di Micigliano is a canyoning route so short that if it were not for the extreme convenience of access would be too short to be taken into consideration.

The very easy and short access to cascades make this route perfect for initiating someone to canyoning.

I remember ...

Our target for that day was exploring the right branch of Fosso di Micigliano and the part downstream the confluence of the two branches until river Velino. First narrows were nice and far from trivial (we had to place a bolt from the border of a hanging pool and free a cascade from a dangerous fallen tree). But soon the narrows gave way to a long open uninteresting part.
Further on the stream enclosed again in narrows but the walls were made of that inconsistent not-boltable limestone I had already met last june in the main branch of Fosso di Micigliano, and that was for me cause of concern (a waterfall in that kind of rock would have forced us to make an unsafe makeshift anchor). We met two waterfalls, but luckily they gave us no problem.
Then stream went on alternating open and engaged parts, with a few dams to be rappeled. When it eclosed in narrows between pudding walls we started dreaming, but dream ended immediately because narrows re-opened in a few meters.

In the end, all in all, we concluded unanimously that the only part of the stream that could be worth a repeat was the very short initial narrows with its little nice waterfalls.
