Cese-Salto

Immediately upstream of the artificial lake, river Salto runs through a hidden and lonely canyon. In winter and spring the canyon is a destination for whitewater kayakers. No waterfalls, then, but rapids and flooded sections. The artificial lake enters the latter part of the canyon, which thus becomes a long flooded canal enclosed between walls of rock.

At the beginning of canyon the Salto receives the waters of Fosso delle Cese. Even this stream runs through a canyon, steep and short. Fosso delle Cese is a canyoning trail that features a sequence of nice waterfalls and pools. The canyon of Cese and the Salto can be concatenated into a single path with unusual features, or they can be covered individually.

I remember ...

The discovery of the Fosso delle Cese is due to Tullio Dobosz. In one of his countless trips in the most unthinkable of central Italy, he realized that Fosso delle Cese could be a canyoning trail. But instead of go and explore he chose to talk to his friend Giorgio Ecker and direct him towards the exploration. Giorgio did not need to be told twice and did the exploration together with Valerio Carlin.
