Torrente Càllora - ramo destro (Fosso del Torrone)

The large green pools and the vigorous waterfalls (in the right season) of Càllora creek are located a stone's throw from the houses of Roccamandolfi, at the bottom of a gorge which alternates narrow and wide, sunny parts.

The upper Càllora is made of two branches. The main is the one at orographic left, but it's the right branch (called Fosso del Torrone) the most frequented one because of the very easy and short approach, and because the large pools and strong waterfalls are located after the confluence of the two branches.

I remember ...

I happened on the Roccamandolfi bridge on October 31, during a short vacation with my wife. It was not by chance, no: I knew about the Càllora gorge and wanted to take a look. And it was love at first sight, with the landscape and the beautiful shapes of the creek (seen from the bridge) that reminded me of the beloved gorges of the Melfa valley. My activity includes a few repetitions of known itineraries, but that gorge ... yes, I wanted to descend it.
We liked the village too: the view on Matese range, the valley disappearing at nightfall, the houses and alleys made of white stone, the window lights inside the Halloween pumpkins, the silence and serenity.

A couple of years later my friend Giorgio asked me to go to the Càllora and I said "yes!"
