My canyoning partners

Many of the canyons I talk about in this website would remain unexplored without the participation of the right partners. I was lucky in finding smart, able and truly willing ones, really uncommon people. I like to introduce some of them, starting with those who were/are regularly with me exploring, who shared/share with me projects and dreams.

Andrea Pucci

Andrea owns a truly versatile mind and years of experience in caves exploring. He is a true canyon enthusiast with solid athletic features and uncommon resistance to cold (look attentively at videos) He loves every feature of mountain environment, he sometimes goes skiing cross-country, MTB, river kayaking, ...
Our cooperation (begun in 2003) is very tight at present. We are sharing exploring projects in parts of Italy which still have no known canyon. We are experimenting new materials and gears. We ...
Andrea sometimes tells about his adventures in a blog

Renato Donati

100% roman guy, the young Renato chose the sea as the theatre of his first outdoor performances: sail-boat and scuba diving. As hair became grey his permanent discontent began to push him towards mountains and canyons.
We met after an e-mail exchange. Some easy canyons to prove the couple works fine, and we start an intense cooperation in searching and exploring new canyons through years 2002-2007.

Guido Biavati

A canyoneer but also an unstoppable divulger of sophisticated (and unuseful) canyoning techniques, Guido fills every canyoning trip with tons of gags, though he remains a serious person true to himself. Since 2009 Guido is our partner in exploring canyons in his home Sardinia. Like us, he feels satisfied even if we don't find a nice canyon.
But, to say the truth, we always find beautiful canyons in Sardinia!

Elisabetta Pinna

Betty loves outdoor activities in general, but mostly she loves canyoning, that gives her thrills and a bit of fear (not more than the right amount). She does most canyoning trips with Guido Biavati (her partner in life). Our canyon explorings in Sardinia have Betty as a precious, affordable, enthusiast partner who found her own role in our team.

Carlo Scappaticci

Traveller, writer, explorer, chef, guide ... the many faces of Carlo express his ideals, the curiosity, his noncomformist principles. He has a fault, a big one: he works on saturdays and sundays, when we ordinary people are free from job and use to go canyoning. He suffers his fault, but usually he can't do nothing about it (job begins with a "j", like jail).
But once in a while he manages to be free from job for a weekend of canyon exploring with us!

Antonio Trocino

Antonio is an active member of the italian caving community. In his curriculum there is a lot of caves exploring and documenting, mainly in southern Italy but also in other european countries. He is also a good hiker and an Official Guide of Sila National Park. His canyoning activity focuses on the search and exploration of canyons in Sila massif, together with me. As in Sila seems there are so many canyons still to be found, I expect that in the coming years we will have a lot to do together ...

Gaetano Peluso

His main feature is curiosity, will to try, to experiment. So he tries everything: caving, hiking, orienteering, river kayaking, mountain biking, free climbing, ice climbing, alpine mountaineering, ... Some years ago he let himself involved in canyoning, and so were born our explorations together. Saw the light also some interesting reflections about techniques and materials, topics in which his engineer studies play a main role.
Our collaboration developed between 1996 and 2002. In those years we were also involved in the birth of Associazione Italiana Canyoning, the first in Italy to deal with canyoning only. AIC logo was made by Gaetano.
As the years passed Gaetano gradually abandoned canyoning, maybe because his curiosity was satisfied with it maybe because the growing family engagements due to family growth!

Riccardo Hallgass

Riccardino is 100% a caving animal. Canyoning was a secondary hobby for him. We had a very good time together, full of beautiful explorations, successful or not (things like going round the whole morning under the hot summer sun in the bush with very heavy backpacks without reaching the stream!!). At the end of a canyoning trip a giant pack of potato chips was waiting for us in our car, to be eaten while singing some demential song.
At present Riccardo is totally engaged in family care. Little hope to see him in a canyon again.

These are the friends who shared many days and canyon explorations with me. With other friends I shared less explorings, however they helped me in a significant way. I want to talk about them inside canyon pages. I want to thank them for the beautiful things we did together. Here are their names (in random order): Andrea Caliņ, Pino Antonini and Paola Santinelli, Tullio Dobosz, Paolo Forconi, Andrea Monaco, Luca Murgioni, Antonio Sera, Flavio Garcia and Pasquale Cuccurullo, Fabrizio Ameli, Annamaria Pinotti and Roberto Recchioni.

My thanks go also to those who were with me exploring only once or twice. Their name appear in the canyon pages.
